What our clients ask us about lashes, brows and teeth whitening
Q: Do extensions ruin my eyelashes?
A: If applied safely by a professional technician, then no! the LDS technicians are specialists and will never over weigh your natural lashes with an extension that is too heavy, use too much glue and precise in their lash isolation techniques
Q: Will the extensions make all my natural lashes fall out?
A: You’re already losing between 2 – 5 natural lashes per eye, per day, the extensions will not encourage faster fall out if properly weighed and applied by an expert technician
Q: Will my natural lashes grow back?
A: The natural lashes that fall out every day are at the end of their life cycle and are making way for a new, fresh strong baby lash. Your lds extensions should not affect that process
Q: Does washing my lashes make my extensions fall out faster
A: No! This is a common misconception and one the lds team work hard tot correct with their clients, water and washing is not bad for your eyelash extensions, in fact, it is encouraged to do with a lash specific cleanser.
Q: Do extensions hurt?
A: If your extensions, hurt, let your technician know, because they should hurt at all. The process is comfortable and relaxing and the end result should feel as good as the lashes look.
Q: I have had a reaction before, should I get them again?
A: The lds team always err on the side of caution with previous reactions, and most times discover that the previous response was due to poor work. To be 100% certain, the lds team offer free patch tests and encourage clients to book a test before lashing
Q: I have sensitive skin, but want to try extensions, what should I do?
A: We absolutely encourage a patch test first if you have any concerns. TO help assuage your anxiety, LashDesign have a sensitive range on hand
Q: I’m not good at laying still, how long does it take?
A: You wouldn’t be the first and we too understand how you feel, so we created the “express set” version of our clients fave lash sets to help those that find it difficult to relax. We also recommend bring head phones/ pods and your fave tunes/ meditation apps/ podcasts to help you get into your zen space for the duration of the service
Q: How do I know which style of lash to go?
A: Great question! And its not something your lash tech can answer for you! But what we can do is ask you the right questions to help better understand your goals and to help you know the answers, we have developed a fun interactive online “which lash style are you better suited too” quiz. As a general rule, if its your first time ease into it with classics or hybrid set, to test the waters before diving head first
Q: Will my brows be too dark?
A: At lds we believe in one simple rule for all first time browers at our studio; LIGHTER THIINER LESS. Which means your brows wont be too thick, too thin, ,we will chose a much light version of your shade then we would otherwise recommend and we won’t let them feel extreme for your first visit. We apply this rule to all brow services we provide to build trust with our clients
Q: What is the difference between tint and henna?
A: Both treatments give the brow precision and depth, filling in the gaps and creating a bolder brow. The henna works by staining the skin as well as hair itself. Henna will not fade rather just grow our or need to be cut off. Tint in comparison works by colouring the skin, which doesn’t last very long, and the tint can fade quickly, and stands out against lighter/ whiter brow hairs
Q: What are HD Brows?
A: High-Definition brows is customised brow styling. You lds brow stylist will assess your face shape and colouring before creating bespoke HD brows, tailored exclusively for you
Q: How do you know what shape to create?
A: your lds brow stylist will map out your new brow shape based on your bone structure and your brow wishes, and have your confirmation before proceeding
Q: What is brow tattooing?
A: Gone are the flat solid brow days where the faded deep grey green solid lines above the eyes was the only way to have your brows “wake up ready”. Enter: Brow tattooing in 2021 or “Powder brows.” As the name suggests, the powder brow is the art of creating a defined brow that mimics the look of a fresh make up but using a gentle technique and colour palette that prevents that old school harsh brow look. DO you love how your brows look with a tint/ henna or a gentle ombre pomade look? Then powder brows are what you have been searching for
Q: What is Microblading?
A: A highly skilled technique, microblading or “feather stoke brows” is created by many tiny feather-like strokes, that mimics the eyebrow hair, filling in gaps and creating an exquisite semi-permanent eyebrow but without the boldness of a powder brow. Feather stroke brows are customised to suit your unique brow goals and suited for anyone looking for a “I woke up like this” permeance to their brows but with a natural approach
Q: How long does microblading/powder brows last?
A: As this is a semi-permanent cosmetic procedure, we expect the brows to begin fading after 12 – 18 months. We do recommend touch ups as thy start to fade to keep your brows on point and looking lush
Q: Does cosmetic tattooing hurt?
A: Everyone feels something different when they get tattooed/ feather stroke brows, but to help assist with individual pain thresholds, we do use a numbing agent prior to and throughout the service.
Q: How long does a treatment take?
A: hour is all that is needed to achieve maximum results, but we also allow an additional 15 mins for a consultation so you know what to expect.
Q: What results can be expected?
A: This depends on each individual and the extent of discolouration, generally from 5-14 shades lighter can be achieved. The more stained your teeth the more dramatic the result will be. Teeth whitening whether done by a dentist or another technician will not whiten your tooth enamel the process will bleach the stains on the surface of your teeth. The results are also relevant to how regularly you have a teeth whitening procedure or use home whitening treatments. Where whitening is done every 6-12 months it is considered a maintenance procedure and results will be less dramatic.
Q. Should teeth whitening be done by a Dentist?
A. Teeth whitening is purely cosmetic and non dental. The products we use are gentler than and just as effective as those used by the dentist. All our products are Australian compliant and produced to the highest standards. Teeth whitening, no matter who does it bleaches stains from the surface of the teeth it does not whiten enamel.
Q: Is teeth whitening safe?
A: We offer the latest whitening gel approved for use in Australia. We have a hygienic non-touch procedure at NO time will a technician touch you or your mouth. Our gel is gentle and safe, problems are extremely rare. Teeth Whitening is safe for crowns and veneers although these will not lighten as much as natural teeth.
Q: Is teeth whitening suitable for everyone?
A: Teeth whitening is a treatment most people want and can have, however, it is not recommended for children under 18 years of age or for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Do not have a teeth whitening treatment if you have gum disease or are requiring dental work.
Q: How long will a teeth whitening treatment last?
A: Teeth will maintain their fresh new appearance for around one year. Re-staining depends largely on diet and lifestyle. Smoking, coffee, tea, fruit juice, sodas all staining foods and beverages will eventually re-stain the surface of your teeth.
